The USE-IT: No-nonsense Tourist Maps
No-nonsense tourist info, made by locals, just for you. USE-IT maps are free, independent, and full of insider tips from young people who actually live there. Think of it as a clever, funny, local friend—on paper.
USE-IT is a Europe-wide network of city guides created by and for young travellers. In nearly 40 cities, young locals volunteer their time to craft honest, free maps filled with their favourite cafés, weird museums, hidden gardens, late-night kebabs, and other under-the-radar gems. No marketing fluff. No corporate influence. Just real city vibes.
Each map is:
- Made by locals who actually live in the city
- Free and printed, usually found in hostels, cafés, and info desks
- Totally non-commercial (nobody pays to be listed)
- Updated regularly
- Volunteer-driven
- Aimed at young, curious, budget-conscious travellers
Some cities also run a small info desk or community space, often staffed by volunteers.

Why on TravaPowa: TravaPowa supports travel models that empower young people to move responsibly, independently, and consciously through the world. USE-IT matches these goals by creating a decentralised network of youth-led initiatives that foster access to culture, mobility, and peer-to-peer learning.
- Its locally rooted, open-source model strengthens cultural participation and knowledge sharing.
- It boosts inclusive, equitable access to information for youth who may not have the resources for commercial tourism.
- By engaging young volunteers in civic and creative roles, it strengthens youth agency and community engagement.
USE-IT proves that low-budget travel can be high-impact when it’s authentic, collaborative, and rooted in community.
