WOH! : a Women Only Hostel in Prague

WOH! - Women’s Only Hostel is Prague’s first accommodation space designed entirely by and for women—a response to a long-standing gap in the city’s hospitality landscape. After nearly two decades of observing how female travellers experience Prague, its founders created a place where women can stay affordably, safely and socially, without compromise.

For many years, tourism in Prague has been strongly shaped by male-dominated travel—especially stag parties—which often created an atmosphere that didn’t always feel comfortable or welcoming for women exploring the city on their own. WOH! emerges as a gentle but clear alternative: a space where women can move, rest and connect without navigating environments shaped around those dynamics.

The hostel offers two campuses, each with its own character but united by the same intention: to feel like a home. Shared rooms, cosy common areas and friendly gathering spaces create an atmosphere where guests can unwind, cook, read, chat or simply exist without the subtle vigilance many women carry when moving through mixed environments.

But WOH! is more than a place to sleep. It cultivates a sense of belonging between guests through shared kitchens, communal lounges, small events and an atmosphere where women naturally support one another. It is an environment where you are not merely anonymous, but gently accompanied; a place where safety and freedom reinforce each other rather than limit one another.

At its core, WOH! is a project about hospitality as care—a belief that women deserve spaces where they can feel at ease, meet peers, share stories and navigate the city with joy rather than caution.

Why on TravaPowa: WOH! fits TravaPowa because it expands what responsible and inclusive travel can look like inside major tourist cities. By creating a women-led and women-focused hospitality space, it addresses safety, accessibility, gender equity and affordability—dimensions often overlooked in traditional tourism models.

  • A women-led, community-driven hospitality initiative, designed around real needs expressed by female travellers and local women, contributing to more inclusive and resilient urban environments (SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities).

  • Inclusive and affordable accommodation that lowers financial barriers and opens Prague to students, solo travellers, low-budget explorers and long-stay guests (SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities).

  • A safe, empowering and supportive environment for women, offering an alternative to tourism dynamics that have historically centred male visitors—especially stag-party tourism—while fostering wellbeing, freedom of movement and self-determination (SDG 5: Gender Equality).

  • Strengthening social connections among travellers, creating micro-communities based on peer support, shared experiences and collective care—showing how hospitality can be both human-centred and socially impactful (SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, through safe and trusted spaces).
